1. What Information We Collect
Newcomers is a language-learning puzzle game. We collect minimal data, and most of it stays on your device.
1.1 Information You Provide (Optional)
- Google Sign-In: If you choose to sign in, we access your name, email, and profile photo for display in the app. This is handled by Google — not transmitted to our servers.
- Game Progress: Your puzzles, streaks, word-learning stats, difficulty settings, and tier/group unlocks are stored locally using SQLite and SharedPreferences. They never leave your device.
- Saved Games: One saved game per language is kept locally. You can continue where you left off.
1.2 Automatically Collected Data
- Play Games Services: If signed in to Google Play Games, achievements, leaderboard scores, and cloud saves are stored by Google per Google's Privacy Policy.
- Advertising (Appodeal): Rewarded video ads are served via Appodeal. They may collect Advertising ID, IP address, and usage data for personalized or contextual ads. See Appodeal Privacy Policy.
- Consent Management: On first launch, Appodeal presents a GDPR/CCPA consent form. You can change consent anytime in Settings.
1.3 Content & Audio Delivery (Supabase)
Newcomers fetches word-group vocabulary and TTS audio clips from Supabase using an anonymous, read-only API key. No user-identifiable data is sent. This is purely content delivery:
- Word groups: Vocabulary lists for 50+ languages, downloaded on demand.
- TTS audio: Native-speaker pronunciations streamed from Supabase Storage.
- Language availability: On startup, the app checks which languages are published (content-complete) via Supabase. No personal data is exchanged.
1.4 Sharing & Referrals
The app includes a share-to-unlock feature. When you share a referral link, a device fingerprint is embedded in the URL to track successful referrals. No personal identity is included. The link recipient's device fingerprint is also recorded to prevent fraud. This data is stored in Supabase and used solely for the referral feature.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Display identity: Your Google name and photo appear in the Profile screen.
- Enable features: Play Games Services powers achievements and leaderboards.
- Support the app: Ads keep Newcomers free. Rewarded ads unlock bonus content voluntarily.
- Content delivery: Word groups and TTS audio fetched from Supabase.
- Referrals: Device fingerprints enable the share-to-unlock feature.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties outside of the services described above.
3. Data Storage & Security
- Game progress, settings, and streaks are stored entirely on your device. Uninstalling loses this data (unless backed up via Play Games cloud saves).
- Google Sign-In and Play Games data is protected by Google's security.
- Appodeal ad data is handled under Appodeal's security practices.
- We do not operate user-account servers or analytics pipelines.
4. Third-Party Services
- Google Sign-In — Google Privacy Policy
- Google Play Games Services — Google Privacy Policy
- Appodeal (advertising) — Appodeal Privacy Policy
- Supabase (content hosting) — Supabase Privacy Policy
5. Children's Privacy
Newcomers is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe your child has provided personal information, contact us so we can delete it.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, withdraw consent, or object to processing.
Since most data is on your device, you can exercise many rights directly — sign out, clear app data, or uninstall. For Google or Appodeal data, use their respective privacy dashboards.
7. Data Deletion
